The SLIR online service displays information in pages which have a standard layout. You will see the following displayed on every page, from top to bottom:
The area at the top of the page displays the SLIR online service logo.
At the top-right of the page are links to services related to SLIR.
CAIRNS is the Co-operative Information Retrieval Network for Scotland. CAIRNS is a one-stop-shop for searching library catalogues.
RCO is Research Collections Online. RCO gives subject strengths of many general research collections located in Scotland.
SCONE is the Scottish Collections Network. SCONE gives collection-level descriptions for many collections located in, and about, Scotland.
SDDL is the Scottish Distributed Digital Library. SDDL allows you to access collections of digital images, electronic texts, etc.

Below the banner are links to information about the SLIR online service.

All Help pages are displayed in new, separate browser windows so you can view the help information and the SLIR page at the same time.

The area below the title bar is used to display information specific to the function of the page. This may include search input forms, display of search results, and display of information about specific services and contacts.
Buttons which may appear in this part of the page include:
This button appears on search and selection pages. Click on this button to
display the results of a search or selection.
This button often appears on pages where you are prompted to enter information,
such as a search term. Click on this button to erase the contents of the entry
boxes so that you can start again from scratch.
This button appears on selection pages where you can reduce the number of
items listed by applying a limit or filter.
The area at the very bottom of the page.

Design and layout last updated: The date that the layout and functions of the page were last changed. Information about SLIR organizations is updated regularly, and the page always displays the latest available information about a collection. The date does not therefore indicate how up-to-date is the information about a collection.
